ElectraMate 2000

ElectraMate Group is a specialist provider of technical services to homeowners, housing associations, registered charities, local authorities and businesses across the south of the U.K. Open vented thermal store repairs from the UK’s leading experts.

On the 17th of October 2008, Gledhill Water Storage Limited (the company that manufactured electric wet central heating and mains pressure domestic hot water supply systems such as the ElectraMate 2000) was subject to administrative proceedings. A winding-up order was issued on 19th October 2009 and after a name change to GWSL Limited, the company was dissolved on 2nd August 2013.
As a result, unfortunately, all Electramate Electric wet central heating and mains pressure domestic hot water supply systems produced by Gledhill Water Storage Limited are no longer covered by a manufacturer’s warranty.
ElectraMate Group is owned and operated by MK Electrical Group Limited an independent BoilerMate specialist that have no connections with Gledhill Water Storage Limited or any other Phoenix Company that has since been incorporated.

The Technological Leap in Central Heating and Water Storage Solutions

In today’s rapidly evolving world, where efficiency and sustainability are paramount, innovative solutions are crucial to meet the demands of modern living. One such breakthrough in the realm of home heating and water storage was the ElectraMate 2000. This advanced system represented a significant leap forward in the field of central heating and water storage technology. Designed with precision and foresight, the ElectraMate 2000 empowered homes with a single energy supply to reap the full benefits of thermal storage. By leveraging off-peak electricity tariffs, it provided a more controllable and user-friendly heating system compared with less sophisticated alternatives. This webpage delves into the remarkable features, advantages, and disadvantages of the ElectraMate 2000, illustrating why it stands out as a leader in its field.

The ElectraMate 2000
A Comprehensive Overview

The ElectraMate 2000 was a pioneering system engineered to deliver efficient wet central heating and mains-pressure hot water while optimizing electricity consumption. At the core of its design lies the principle of thermal storage, a concept that allows energy to be stored and used at a later time. This is especially advantageous in regions where electricity is charged at varying rates depending on the time of day. By capitalizing on lower off-peak tariffs, homeowners can significantly reduce their energy costs without compromising comfort or performance.
One of the standout features of the ElectraMate 2000 is its ability to store up to 270 liters of water. This substantial storage capacity ensures a consistent and reliable supply of hot water, making it an ideal solution for households of all sizes. In smaller properties, this system is particularly efficient, as it requires less than 10% of the main input at the higher ‘on-peak’ rate. This is a crucial advantage, especially in areas where local tariffs permit ‘off-peak’ charging only during nighttime hours. The ElectraMate 2000 not only optimizes energy consumption but also enhances the overall user experience by providing uninterrupted access to hot water.

All the proven benefits of Thermal Storage

  • Ultra-high performance providing instantaneous hot water and heating
  • The ability to save up to 15% on fuel bills
  • ‘Power Shower’ pressures for every shower in the home
  • The ability to take a bath, a shower, and run hot water all at the same time with no loss of heat or pressure
  • Dry roof space with no tanks or pipes in the loft, so no need to worry about freezing pipes in the winter
  • High-quality water at every tap
  • Balanced pressure to all terminal fittings
There was no requirement for
  • Secondary supply tank
  • Ball valve
  • Warning pipe
  • Pressure-reducing valve (under 8 bar)
  • Separate external expansion chamber
  • Shower pump – thanks to excellent hot water performance
It makes possible the use of
  • Smaller diameter supply pipes
  • Simpler terminal fittings including mixer taps
  • Sophisticated shower valves
  • High-pressure showers

Plus the Evolutionary benefits of ElectraMate 2000

  • The ability to make the most of off-peak tariffs
  • Lower running costs than dry storage radiators and off-peak hot water storage
  • Only one energy supply to the property required
  • No flueing problems.
  • The need for annual boiler servicing is eliminated.
  • Capital cost is comparable to other systems when the simplified energy supply is taken into account.
  • A responsive radiator and high-performance hot water system.
  • Provides over 35 L/minute
  • Water is controlled at 55°C at the taps (or lower if required)
  • Heating is provided at normal design temperatures (or lower if required)

Revolutionary Design Provides Mains Pressure Hot Water And Wet Central Heating At Off-Peak Rates

The ElectraMate 2000 Thermal Storage system simply reverses the primary and secondary water functions. 270 litres of primary water is stored in a unique, interlinked, all copper, three tube construction to save space, with all controls conveniently grouped in the fourth quadrant. The water is heated, generally at off-peak tariff times, by two low watts density immersion heaters, as programmed by the two store control thermostats, and pumped through the radiators as required. The heating circuit opens in the same way as any ‘wet’ system. Control is by a programmed room thermostat (supplied).

ElectraMate 2000

Secondary water flows directly from the cold mains into the high-efficiency plate heat exchanger, where it is heated by the hot water in the store before being delivered to the taps.

The innovative new ElectraMate 2000 offers significant benefits over ordinary systems

NEW High Efficiency Plate Heat Exchanger that offers:
  • Extra High Hot Water Flow Rates
  • No Need for In-Line Scale Inhibitor
  • No Need for Pressure Reducing Valve
  • No Need for Non-Return Valve
Operational noise is reduced to a minimum because:
  •  Water is pumped over the immersion elements whenever they are providing heat to minimize “kettling”
  • The thermal store and heating circuit operate as a sealed primary system.
